Chinese Spaghetti with Spicy Meat Sauce

Sometimes it's fun to put a different spin on a regular everyday
dinner like spaghetti and meat sauce.  This Asian version is a
family favorite at our house.

One of the main ingredients in the spicy meat sauce is hoisin.
Hoisin is a Chinese barbeque sauce containing soybean paste,
garlic, vinegar and various spices.  People usually either love it or
hate it becauseof it's very distinct taste. If you are new to hoisin
sauce you can dilute  it with a little water or rice wine to tone down
the flavor.

Regardless........I think you will love this recipe!

Chinese Spaghetti with Spicy Meat Sauce

adapted from Food.com

1 lb. ground beef
2 tablespoons sesame oil
1 1/2 cups chopped onions
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 1/2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger
1/2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes (more to taste)
2 tablespoons cornstarch
3/4 cup beef broth
1/3 cup hoisin sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
8 oz. spaghetti
1/2 cup sliced green onions

In a large skillet brown ground beef until no longer pink. Drain
and keep warm.

Pour sesame oil in the pan and saute onion, garlic, ginger and
red pepper flakes until tender.

Combine cornstarch with beef broth, whisking until smooth.

Stir broth mixture, hoisin sauce, soy sauce into onion mixture.

Bring to a boil, stirring constantly; boil, stirring constantly for 1 minute.

Stir in ground beef.

Serve on top of spaghetti and top with sliced green onions.

Serves 3-4

**I usually double the recipe for my family of 5**
